60% of americans are idiots

According to an ABC News poll, 60 percent of Americans believe God created the world in six days. In Petersburg, Ky., this weekend, a creation museum is opening that depicts a story far from what you may have learned in science class.

Exhibits at almost every natural history museum teach that dinosaurs are millions of years old, and that they died out long before human beings existed. But at the Creation Museum, they say God created dinosaurs and humans at the same time.

The Creation Museum, designed by the same man behind some of the attractions at Universal Studios in Florida, is a $27 million, high-tech sensory experience with animatronic dinosaurs and a movie theater with seats that shake.

The museum is intended to convince visitors that evolution is wrong and that the biblical story of life on earth from Adam and Eve to Noah's ark is scientifically verifiable.

The museum depicts Adam living with animals, including a dinosaur.

Decline and fall of the neocons

An excellent article from the Times of London on what Paul Wolfowitz’s ousting from the world bank means for the Neocon movement.

"As Tony Blair was bidding farewell to President George W Bush in the Rose Garden on Thursday, the World Bank was preparing to kick out Paul Wolfowitz as president. Allies to the left and right in the Iraq war were falling by the wayside that day.

Was he responsible for Blair’s departure from office, Bush was asked. There had to be a reason why a prime minister who had never lost an election was being dumped. “Could be . . . I don’t know,” the president mused above the distant chant of war protesters outside the White House gates."

My favorite comment was this:

The chickens have finally come home to roost. I believe all of this ---- the Iraq War; the Patriot Act (nothing but an onslaught on the basic liberties of all US citizens under the guise of security); Rumsfeld and Cheney their cronies; Tony Blair, etc , are by products of the coup d'e'tat in 2000. Yes, it happened in America, except the clothing was expensive business suits instead of GI uniforms.

Whoever heard of an election decided by the state governed by the sibling of the winner (under suspicious circumstances) and certified by appointees of the winner's Father? The people of the USA should never again refer to another country as a "banana republic". This will be one of US history's most shameful administrations.

Costco recalls punching bags filled with soiled underwear

Turns out the underwear filled punching bag was not an isolated case, and Costco is recalling the punching bags manufactured by TKO Sports.

Dear Costco Member:

We are issuing this voluntary recall notice for the TKO Sports Heavy Punching Bag with Speed Bag Combination, manufactured by TKO Sports, of Houston, TX. We have learned that the fill material in the heavy punching bag does not meet our high quality standards.

Family learns punching bag is filled with dirty underwear **

A Cincinnati-area family got a smelly surprise when they opened a punching bag they purchased earlier this year. Joe Heckel said he and his son were moving a TKO brand heavy punching bag from their garage to the basement when they decided to see what was inside in case the bag later leaked. But Heckel said that instead of sand or plastic pellets, he found the bag full of men's and women's underwear, some of it used.

Ashcroft objected to NSA spying

Aide testifies: While Ashcroft was recovering from gall bladder surgery he was pressured by then-White House chief of staff Andrew Card and then-White House Counsel Alberto (I don't recall) Gonzales, to approve the domestic spying program. Ahscroft objected, as did the aide, both threatening to resign.

Former aide described the visit as "an effort to take advantage of a very sick man"

Why do these people wait until now to speak up?
Oh yeah because there was no way the Republicans would have asked the questions.

Jerry Fallwell finally gets to talk to God
How could this happen? Weren't there good Christians praying for him?

I'll miss him solely for his entertainment value.
Who can forget "gay teletubbies" and gays causing 9/11.

Guess God got tired of him spewing that divisive crap.

"Buying the War" Bill Moyers Reports

"How the administration marketed the war to the American people has been well covered, but critical questions remain: How and why did the press buy it, and what does it say about the role of journalists in helping the public sort out fact from propaganda?"
If you missed it on PBS watch it here It's an excellent, and frustrating look into how the media sold the Iraq war.

Would the last Bush supporter please turn out the lights?

GOP Senators tell Bush "He's no longer credible on Iraq"

A group of 11 Republican members of Congress have delivered a blunt warning to President George Bush on the handling of the Iraq War.

The delegation -- headed by Reps. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., and Charlie Dent, R-Pa. -- spent more than an hour with Bush Tuesday afternoon at the president's private White House quarters, NBC News reported Wednesday.

Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice also attended the meeting, along with presidential political adviser Karl Rove and White House spokesman Tony Snow.

"My district is prepared for defeat (in Iraq)," NBC quoted one congressman as saying. "We need candor. We need honesty, Mr. President."

The Republican congressmen told Bush war news should no longer come from the president or the White House, but should be delivered by the U.S. commander in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus.

"There is no longer any credibility," one congressman reportedly said.

Bush reportedly told his fellow Republicans: "I don't want to pass this off to another president. I particularly don't want to pass this off to a Democratic president."

If You Want to Know if Spot Loves You So, It’s in His Tail

But there is another, newly discovered, feature of dog body language that may surprise attentive pet owners and experts in canine behavior. When dogs feel fundamentally positive about something or someone, their tails wag more to the right side of their rumps. When they have negative feelings, their tail wagging is biased to the left.

A study describing the phenomenon, “Asymmetric tail-wagging responses by dogs to different emotive stimuli,” appeared in the March 20 issue of Current Biology.
